This 3- hour session will explore current use of adaptive equipment for severely-involved children with disabilities in both the school-based and early intervention therapy practice settings.  The evidence base regarding the benefits of physical activity and the detrimental outcomes of inactivity and immobility will be discussed. Use of upright positioning equipment for standing and walking, and the use of adaptive seating, tricycles, and toileting equipment will be described. Acquisition of equipment under IDEA will be outlined. Break-out sessions with adaptive equipment for demonstration and hands-on discovery will follow the educational presentation. Therapists from CT will receive a certificate of completion of the course, for CEU credits.
