Help Ensure That Everyone Has the Ability to Succeed

You support Oak Hill because you want to see everyone, regardless of ability or life challenges, realize their potential. When you include Oak Hill in your will or other long-term plans, you partner with us as advocates for children and adults with disabilities. Your gift to future generations will help ensure that we all have the opportunity to thrive.

The nation’s first nursery for blind children was established in 1888 by Emily Wells Foster. In 1893 it would become the Connecticut Institute for the Blind, which expanded into today’s Oak Hill. Emily’s legacy has changed the lives of hundreds of blind Americans over the past 124 years and donors continue to expand on her mission by supporting the creation of new programs and services.

The Emily Wells Foster Society (EWFS) was established to recognize individuals who have made provision for Oak Hill in their estate plans. There are presently over 200 individuals and families who are recognized as EWFS members. As you consider your legacy giving, some of the opportunities, which can provide tax benefits to you and/ or your estate, include gifts of real estate or personal property, insurance policies, IRA or Keogh Plan benefits, bequests, and trust arrangements.

Our family has been the beneficiary of Oak Hill's remarkable day, recreational and residential services for our son Jamie over the course of many years, many challenges, and many changes of condition. At each step of the way, Oak Hill's direct care and administrative back-up has responded nimbly and sensitively, and with a consistent level of reliable professional care, and there have been untold kindnesses that were neither expected nor requested. Oak Hill is part of our family's deferred giving plan as a testament of our gratitude, and a commitment to other families that Oak Hill will always be there to meet the challenges of succeeding generations."
