NEAT Equipment Services

The NEAT Center at Oak Hill provides adaptive equipment services with which durable medical equipment can be donated, purchased, or repaired.

Please note that NEAT will be closed the week of Dec. 24 - Dec 28, 2018. However, birth to three providers are welcome to come in and see our technicians downstairs. We will also be closed the morning of Monday, January 7, 2019 from 9 AM to 12 PM for professional development.

Our services are by appointment only during the following business hours:

  • DONATIONS & PURCHASING: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
  • REPAIRS: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
  • CLOSED: Thursday (this does not apply to our Birth to Three or ALS services)
  • CLOSED: Saturday and Sunday

Donate

We are happy to accept donations of gently-used durable medical equipment so that we may refurbish and reuse.  Our donation intake can benefit individuals with disabilities, of all ages, and their families.  

Examples of durable medical equipment accepted for donation include:

  • Grab Bars
  • Gait Trainers
  • Full-Hospital Beds – We do NOT accept mattresses!
  • Hospital Beds
  • Tumble Forms
  • Ramps
  • Rollators 
  • Hoyer Lifts
  • Pediatric Equipment
  • Standers
  • Manual and Transport Wheelchair
  • Power Wheelchair with good batteries
  • Scooters
  • 3 in 1 Commodes
  • Rolling shower commode chair 
  • Unique adaptive and recreational equipment 
Things to know: 

  • All donations are fully tax-deductible. 
  • A fee may be incurred for the request of donation pick-up. 
  • Equipment must be gently-used and in good, working condition.
  • If you are unsure of about the condition of the equipment that you would like to donate, please inquire with our team. We may ask you to send pictures.  
  • Our services are by appointment only.  Walk-ins may be turned away or may incur a wait time until someone can assist their needs. 
  • We accept donations based on condition as well as our equipment needs.
  • Before donating durable medical equipment, always check the equipment for stickers that may indicate specific vendors/agencies items should be returned to, especially if the equipment is not under your ownership.

Purchase

Among many AT services, the NEAT Center at Oak Hill also accepts donations of “gently used” assistive technology and durable medical equipment. Dedicated team members then sanitize, restore and resell, this equipment for a savings of 50-80% over the cost of new equipment.

While we have a physical store location in Hartford, CT, we are also working steadily to increase are online inventory.

  • We make every effort to pick up, sell and deliver equipment in a timely manner, but it is important to share that we are a small team and we are trying our best to serve the community efficiently.  The NEAT Center is not designed to meet emergency demands.
  • The items we sell are heavily dependent on donations.  We cannot guarantee we have the specific equipment you are looking for.  Please call or email to inquire.

Repair

 

Our highly-qualified team members can repair reasonable, durable medical equipment requests at our location in Hartford, CT. 

Things to know:

  • Repairs are done on Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays.
  • Our services are by appointment only.  Walk-ins may be turned away or may incur a wait time until someone can assist their needs.
  • We make every effort repair equipment in a timely manner, but it is important to share that we are a small team and we are trying our best to serve the community efficiently.  The NEAT Center is not designed to meet emergency demands. 
  • Repair services are fee-based: $25.00 per hour.
  • There is no fee for NEAT to assess the equipment needs. 
  • NEAT reserves the right to deny the repair or customization of requested equipment.

Rentals

Our rental service of durable medical equipment is designed to meet the needs of an individual for a short time period. Please call to inquire about the fees associated with borrowing the following equipment:

Our Partnerships

  • Connecticut Tech Act Project logo
    • The Connecticut Tech Act Project increases independence and improves the lives of individuals with disabilities through increased access to Assistive Technology for work, school and community living.  CTTAP has established partnerships with agencies in the community, including the NEAT Center at Oak Hill to increase awareness of AT through demonstrations, device loan programs, equipment reuse and alternate financing programs.
  • ALS Association logo
    • The ALS Association of CT (ALSA) partners with the NEAT Center to provide assistive technology (AT) devices and services to families registered with the CT Chapter.  The NEAT Center handles, sanitizes, restores and tracks the ALSA’s adaptive equipment inventory out of the Hartford address.  This also includes pick-up and delivery.
  • Connecticut Office of Early Childhood logo
    • The Connecticut Birth to Three System, administered by the Office of Early Childhood, partners with the NEAT Center to provide assistive technology (AT) devices and services to eligible children and their families. The NEAT Center handles, sanitizes, restores and tracks the Birth to Three adaptive equipment inventory out of the Hartford address. Other partnership services include AT trainings, technical assistance, access to a loan library and resourceful information.

    • Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA) – an Aging and Disability Resource Center, managing and providing comprehensive services for seniors, caregivers and individuals with disabilities through person-centered planning in order to maintain their independence and quality of life.
