Smart Home

Established in partnership with the Connecticut Tech Act Project, the NEAT Center's Smart Home is a resource for individuals with a range of disabilities. We demonstrate how to gain control of your home environment by using a range of low to high-tech solutions, including commercially available smart devices. This includes devices that utilize automation or manual control by using multiple access points such as touch, voice or even eye control. The overall goal is to help an individual with a disability or a caregiver gain more independence while remaining connected.

NEAT is Now Offering Smart Home Assessments, Installations and Training!

Click the topics below to read more about the services we offer.

Smart Home Consultations

Smart Home Consultations are conducted by highly qualified, NEAT professionals.  These consultations help individuals determine the technology needs of an individual with disabilities or provide suggestions on how to use available technologies.

Consultations typically last 1-2 hours and require the individual and/or staff to be present, as consultations do not yield written reports or written recommendations. If the team would like to request a brief, written summary of the consultation findings, an additional fee will be included.  This is different from a full Evaluation, as there is not a review of records or a development of an individual profile within the written summary.

Consultation Fee: $100 per hour

Travel fee additional

Smart Home Installations

Installations are conducted by highly qualified, NEAT professionals.  Will perform physical installation of your device(s), connect each device to your network, setup and link accounts, and configure them to your preference.

Installation Fee: $100 per hour

Smart Home Training

Provides individuals and family with personalized support in implementing an existing smart device within an individual’s natural environment. This service can be helpful for individuals who have recently received a new smart device and would like learn more about it's capabilities and configurations. Training can take place in one session to get the individual/family started, or NEAT can be hired to follow an on-going training model in which the specialist would check in on a consistent basis to provide guidance as the individual makes progress. Training can be in person, via videoconferencing, or a combination of both.

Training Fee: $100 per hour

Smart Home Demonstrations
